Community Health Awareness Programs

Our community has an extremely poor health record and since its inception, BNENC has been delivering a number of programmes to raise awareness of health issues. BNENC are currently working & delivering the following programmes:

Breast Savvy

The Breast Savvy programme is designed to raise awareness of breast cancer in women aged 50 to 70 years and helps encourage women in our target group to attend their breast screening appointments. This programme forms part of the Anfield & Everton Community Innovation Team of which BNENC is a major partner on, we have recently won the Liverpool City Region Health & Wellbeing Award and the NHS PCN Community Innovation Award.

Befriending Clubs

BNENC runs a number of befriending clubs in the community where people can have a cuppa & a chat, play bingo, have a dance or enjoy a trip out. The clubs bring individuals together and reduce isolation and loneliness.

Childhood Inoculation Programme

The Childhood Inoculation Programme involves working with public Health, Liverpool City council, School of Tropical medicine and NHS BNENC. We have put together 10 x roadshows to raise awareness of parents ensuring that their child is inoculated. Our community has a high number of parents not taking up the jab offer in ensuring their child’s health. Our programme aligns with the National NHS Campaign and helps to dispel the myths and fears that many parents have.

Training for Trainee Nurses

BNENC have been partnering with Liverpool John Moores University in delivering social prescribing and community awareness training to year two trainee nursing staff. As a result of our work in this, BNENC were awarded the Kitemark for excellence in learning in Care from NHS & LJMU.

Cooking Workshops

This is one of our latest programmes where residents can come together and learn how to cook healthy on a budget. Alan, head chef, delivers the workshop in a fun and informative manner with each participant going away with new skills and a menu pack. We have also delivered a junior master chef programme for young people engaging them and making cooking fun and enjoyable.

BNENC will continue to put the health of our community at the forefront of all it does.
